Thermalstrandbad Baden

The bath is run by the town of Baden in Lower Austria and has been open since 1926; its art-deco frontage is a listed monument. It works in the open air and only in summer: the season runs from 1 May to late September, with bathing from 08:30 on weekdays and 08:00 at weekends in high summer, closing between 18:00 and 19:30 depending on the date. The operator puts the grounds at 42,000 m², a sand beach of 3,700 m² it calls the largest in Austria, cabanas and cabins, two restaurants and the Weilburgpark.

Six pools are listed, their temperatures given as guide values with the day's readings posted on site: a sports pool at 19 to 23 °C, a multi-purpose pool at 22 to 26 °C, a mineral pool at 25 to 29 °C, the slide landing pool at 22 to 25 °C, a children's pool at 26 to 28 °C and the sulphur pool, the "Wandl", at 34 to 36 °C. Two of them are 50-metre swimming pools. There are also a large water slide, a wide slide, a palm slide, a current channel, floor geysers, massage jets and a diving tower. Accounts of its construction describe a supply drawn from wells, warmed as needed with sulphur water from the Marienquelle. The water is recognised as a medicinal water, and the operator says it is used for skin complaints.

The tills close an hour before bathing ends.
