Narzissentherme Bad Aussee

The Narzissen Vital Resort in Bad Aussee, Styria, is a brine bath (Solebad) centred on the Ausseer Sole, which the resort describes as originating directly from the Altaussee salt mountain (the Sandling) and being used in traditional cure treatments for more than 100 years. The bathing area combines heated brine pools, spring-water pools and a dedicated sauna world.

Brine and pools

The site lists several distinct pools. The Solesee, set inside a salt-crystal grotto, holds water at 34°C with a 4% Ausseer brine content, and the outdoor Sole-Außenbecken is kept at 32–34°C with a 2–3% brine content, fitted with bubble seats, geysers and massage jets. A Soleinhalations-Dampfbad (brine inhalation steam bath) runs at 40°C with 90% humidity and a fine Ausseer brine mist. Alongside the brine features, the Relaxbecken (33–34°C) and the Narzissenbecken (32–34°C) are filled with Ausseer spring water, and a 17-metre Multifunktionsbecken at 28°C serves as a course, therapy and swimming pool.

Sauna world

The Saunawelt offers a range of cabins at stated temperatures: the Panoramasauna (90°C, with up to 10 guided infusions daily), the Schwitzkastl Finnish sauna (80°C, reserved for women on Wednesdays with scheduled infusions), the Zirbensauna stone-pine sauna (70°C with automatic pine-oil scent), the Kräutersudsauna herbal sauna (50–60°C), an infrared heat cabin (35–50°C) and the Narzissendampfbad steam bath (40°C, 90% humidity). A cold-water pool at 8–10°C, fed by Ausseer spring water, is provided for cooling after sauna sessions.

Wellness, hotel and dining

The resort includes the Narzissen Vital Spa with wellness treatments and outpatient therapy programmes, and it operates as a combined facility with an attached four-star suite hotel; direct hotel guests receive brine-bath access across their stay. On-site dining is provided by the Narzissen Restaurant and bath gastronomy.

Hours and admission

The Solebad and sauna are open daily from 09:00 to 21:00 (last entry to the water at 20:45). Stated adult admission options include a 4-hour bath ticket at €25.00, a full-day bath ticket at €29.00, and an evening bath ticket at €19.00; adding sauna access costs a further €12.00, with a €2.00 surcharge on weekends and public holidays.
