SOLBAD Beatus Wellness & Spa Hotel

The SOLBAD of the BEATUS Wellness & Spa Hotel is the bathing and sauna section of a lakeside hotel at Merligen on Lake Thun, in the Bernese Oberland. It is not a water park: there are no slides, and the bathing offer consists of an outdoor experience brine pool, the Erlebnis-Frei-SOLBAD, and an indoor pool. The complex is nonetheless open to visitors who are not staying at the hotel. The operator maintains a dedicated page for day guests covering the brine bath, the sauna and day-spa packages, and the brine bath and indoor pool are sold to day guests as a timed admission of two hours.

The outdoor brine pool is held at 35 °C and is fed with natural brine; the operator states plainly that it is a warm saltwater bath rather than a classical thermal bath. The indoor pool is supplied with spring water from Merligen, measures eight metres by sixteen metres and is kept at a constant 29 °C. The bathing area is open daily from 7.30 to 21.30; for day guests the brine bath and indoor pool are available from 8.00 to 21.30 without reservation on weekdays, while on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays a limited number of online time slots applies between 8.00 and 18.00, after which entry is again possible without reservation until 21.30. The hotel reports 277 metres of direct lake frontage and its own sand beach.

Two sauna landscapes are published, together occupying a wellness area given as 2,000 square metres. The Classic landscape holds five heat rooms: the Alpes steam bath with mountain-herb scent, the Sanus steam bath with mint aroma and the Aeris steam bath with pine scent, all at 40 to 45 ℃, the mild Bio Lux sanarium at 55 ℃ and the Finnicum outdoor sauna at 90 ℃ with panoramic windows. The Bamboo landscape adds three rooms: the Zen sauna at 85 ℃, a Thai herbal sanarium at 55 ℃ and a brine grotto at 45 ℃ with automatic brine bursts. Use of both landscapes is included in the room rate for hotel guests.

For day guests the distinction matters. The plain brine-bath ticket covers only the Erlebnis-Frei-SOLBAD and the indoor pool; the Sauna Classic is not included and must be booked separately, and it opens from 14.00 on weekdays and from 18.00 at weekends and on public holidays, with restricted hours at busy times. Adolescents between 16 and 18 may use the sauna world accompanied by an adult. The fitness studio, likewise not included in the brine-bath ticket, is open daily from 8.00 to 19.00, with training from age 12 in adult company and unaccompanied from 16. Bathrobes and towels are available for a rental fee unless a day-spa package includes them.
