Bains de Saillon

Les Bains de Saillon sits on the right bank of the Rhône at Saillon, in the Swiss canton of Valais, pairing a thermal centre with a 145-room four-star hotel, themed restaurants and free parking. It has belonged to the Swiss BOAS group since 2008, and the baths reopened in 2022 after two years of building work.

The thermal area is listed as an indoor thermal pool, an outdoor thermal pool, a round outdoor pool for guests aged 16 and over, a semi-Olympic swimming pool and a thermal river. The operator’s FAQ states that the thermal pools and the river are held between 32 and 34 °C, and that the semi-Olympic pool, meant for swimming, is heated to 28 °C. The river runs 120 metres past an aquatic grotto with whirlpools, two pergolas with massage benches and a current booster. Published depths run from 1.20 m in the river to 2.10 m at the deep end of the swimming pool. A children’s area with a giant slide, a pentaglide and a paddling pool opens from May to September. The operator calls the water thermal but does not say where it is drawn from.

Les Mayens du Bien-Être — a sauna village inside a Valais mountain house, with a sauna, a bio-sauna, a Turkish bath and a relaxation area looking out on the Alps — is limited to ages 16 and over; the Cinq Mondes spa is separate. Visits have no time limit. Aqua’Sport classes need no booking. The baths open daily 8am–9pm, the thermal river from 9am and the Mayens from 10am.
