Balneario de Lanjarón

The Balneario de Lanjarón is in the town of Lanjarón, on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada at the entrance to the Alpujarra, in Andalusia. Its balneotherapy goes back centuries; today it also runs a large modern thermal circuit.

The springs

The spa uses six mineral-medicinal springs, each with its own composition and its own indication on the operator's list. El Salado is highly mineralised, chlorinated, sodic, calcic, magnesic and ferruginous, and is given as sedative. Capuchina, very highly mineralised and bicarbonated, is used for digestion and for the liver and biliary system. Salud I (low mineralisation, lightly carbonated) and Salud II (medium mineralisation, strongly carbonated) are both for the digestive tract, and Capilla, a sparkling water of medium-low mineralisation, is said to aid digestion and stimulate the appetite. San Vicente, of very low mineralisation, is a bicarbonated calcic water with a diuretic action.

The thermal circuits

Aquatherma is a 60-minute circuit. Its main stations are:

• a water bar, a shallow pool at around 30 °C with a hydrojet bench
• an active pool at around 28 °C with underwater jets
• a jacuzzi at around 34 °C with jets for the lower back and legs
• a wet steam bath at 45 °C and 70% relative humidity
• a dry sauna with benches at 30, 60 and 90 °C

It also has a toning tunnel with hot and cold pools, a Scottish shower, an aroma shower and thermal loungers. Termas al Lanchar is a private 60-minute circuit of hot, cold and warm contrast baths with a hammam-style vapour bath.

Visiting

Massages and beauty treatments are offered alongside the circuits. Guests stay in 2-, 3- and 4-star hotels on site, and the restaurant serves light, healthy food.
