Balneario de Lanjarón

Thermal bathLanjarón, Andalucía, Spain

Historic mineral-water spa in the Alpujarra of Granada, with six mineral-medicinal springs, the Aquatherma thermal circuit, wellness, hotels and dining.

About

The Balneario de Lanjarón sits in the town of Lanjarón, gateway to the Alpujarra in the province of Granada, Andalusia. Set amid the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, the spa is famed for the mineral waters that made Lanjarón Spain's best-known spa town, and today combines centuries-old balneotherapy with a large modern leisure and thermal circuit.

Mineral-medicinal springs

The spa draws on six mineral-medicinal springs, each with a distinct composition and therapeutic use:

  • El Salado - a highly mineralised water classified as chlorinated, sodic, calcic, magnesic and ferruginous, with a sedative effect.
  • Capuchina - a very highly mineralised bicarbonated, chlorinated, sodic and calcic water used as a digestive aid and to support the liver and biliary system.
  • Salud I - a low-mineralisation chlorinated, sodic, calcic, bicarbonated and lightly carbonated water for digestive support.
  • Salud II - a medium-mineralisation chlorinated, sodic, bicarbonated and strongly carbonated water for gastrointestinal complaints.
  • Capilla - a medium-low mineralisation chlorinated, sodic, calcic, bicarbonated and sparkling water that aids digestion and stimulates the appetite.
  • San Vicente - a very low mineralisation bicarbonated calcic water with a diuretic action, supporting the kidneys and urinary tract.

Pools, baths and balneotherapy

Treatments are built around the thermal waters, with hydrothermal areas and techniques offered in two main circuits:

  • Aquatherma - a 60-minute leisure and thermal circuit that includes a water bar (a shallow pool held at around 30 °C with a hydrojet bench and therapeutic jets), a toning tunnel with hot and cold pools for temperature-contrast therapy, an active pool at around 28 °C with underwater jets, a wet thermal steam bath at 45 °C with 70% relative humidity, a dry sauna with tiered benches at 30, 60 and 90 °C, a Scottish shower alternating hot and cold pressurised water, an aroma shower with relaxing scents, a jacuzzi at around 34 °C with lumbar and lower-limb jets, and ergonomic thermal loungers.
  • Termas al Lanchar - a private 60-minute circuit with contrast baths (hot, cold and warm) and a hammam-style vapour bath.

Spa and wellness

Marketed as the largest leisure and thermal circuit in Andalusia, the centre also offers a Secret Garden and a range of spa and wellness treatments that combine the mineral waters with relaxation and thermal programmes.

Hotel and dining

The resort provides on-site accommodation across 2-, 3- and 4-star hotel options and a restaurant offering balanced, healthy cuisine designed to complement the thermal programmes.
