Eight natural geothermal pools on the edge of Whale Fjord in West Iceland, where warm springs meet the tide-fed North Atlantic, plus sauna and bistro.

About

Hvammsvík Hot Springs sits on the shore of Hvalfjörður (Whale Fjord) in Kjós, West Iceland, about 45 minutes and 56 km from Reykjavík. Its geothermal pools lie right at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, so some hold a steady warmth while others fluctuate with the temperature of the North Atlantic.

Seaside geothermal pools

Eight natural hot springs of varying sizes and temperatures wind along the beach, some evolving into the ocean itself. A tidal pool varies with the tides and can disappear completely under the sea at high water, while a newly built ocean plunge pool and open-water swimming offer a cold-water contrast.
