About

Vulkán Gyógy- és Élményfürdő is a medicinal and experience bath in Celldömölk, in western Hungary, at Sport utca 8. It brings together thermal pools, a swimming pool, a sauna world, massage and beauty services, and an outdoor beach area, and it operates as a certified medicinal bath.

The water

The bath is supplied by thermal water from the CELL-6 well, which was drilled in 2003 to a depth of 1,245 metres. The water emerges at 43 °C at the source. Analysis classifies it as a soft, sodium-hydrogencarbonate and chloride type warm water with a notably high fluoride content of 6.5 mg/l and a slight sulphide character. Its total dissolved mineral content is about 3,330 mg per litre, with sodium (950 mg/l) and hydrogencarbonate (1,600 mg/l) as the dominant ions, alongside chloride, calcium, potassium, magnesium, lithium, iodide and bromide. The bath recommends the water for degenerative joint diseases, gout, muscle and tendon pain, chronic rheumatological conditions, post-surgical rehabilitation, back pain, postural disorders and stress.

Pools and saunas

The complex includes a 25-metre swimming pool used for individual and group swimming lessons, which runs continuously through the year. The sauna offering is split between the bath's own textile sauna area and a separate non-textile sauna world operated by the neighbouring Vulkán Hotel. The bath's textile section has a Finnish sauna, an infrared sauna and a plunge tub. The hotel's non-textile sauna world contains two Finnish saunas, an infrared sauna, a steam cabin and a biosauna, and holds guided sauna sessions three times a day.

Facilities

Beyond bathing, the venue provides several types of massage, beauty care including hairdressing, cosmetics, manicure and pedicure, and further wellness services. An outdoor beach area operates during the summer season. A hotel, the Vulkán Hotel, adjoins the bath and runs its sauna world.

Visiting

During the beach season, from 1 June to 31 August, the bath is open every day from 10:00 to 20:00; for the rest of the year, from 1 September to 31 May, it is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00. A full-day adult ticket costs 2,950 Ft in peak season and 1,950 Ft on off-season weekdays, while children and students aged 4 to 25 pay 900 Ft in peak season and 500 Ft off season. Sauna admission (in addition to a bath ticket) is 700 Ft for the bath's own sauna and 3,100 Ft for the hotel-operated sauna world.
