Termál Gyógyfürdő

Gyógyfürdő is a medicinal bath in Szentes, built in 1962 to a design by Károly Dávid recalling Turkish baths, run by the University of Szeged's clinical center. Its water comes from Szentes's only well certified as medicinal hot water, Kórház I., drilled in 1957 to 1735 metres, with a source temperature of 78°C; the water is alkaline hydrogen-carbonate and fluoride-bearing, indicated for joint, musculoskeletal and chronic gynaecological conditions. The bathhouse runs six medicinal-water pools at different temperatures. Under the dome, a large pool holds water at 35-37°C, plus four smaller pools at 23°C, 30-32°C, 33-35°C and 40-42°C, used for cold-warm contrast bathing and Kneipp therapy; children under 14 may use only the outdoor and cold-water pools. A courtyard outdoor pool runs at 30°C from 1 May to 30 September and at 33°C the rest of the year. Besides water and electrotherapy treatments, the bath houses a 10-bed day hospital and a rheumatology outpatient clinic, reachable with a doctor's referral for services such as underwater group exercise, underwater jet massage, weight-bath, carbon-dioxide bath and medical massage.
