The Thermalsolbad Salzgitter-Bad is a brine bath fed from a 243-metre borehole on the old saltworks site, with a wave pool and a year-round outdoor pool at about 30 °C, a whirlpool and a four-cabin sauna world.

About

The Thermalsolbad stands at Parkallee 3 in Salzgitter, in the Salzgitter-Bad district, and is run by Bäder, Sport und Freizeit Salzgitter GmbH. The water is brine, and the brine is genuine: the operator calls it Natursole and gives a salt content of about 2 % in the bathing pools, and states that Salzgitter-Bad is a state-recognised place with brine cure operation, its physiotherapy practice holding the status of a Kurmittelhaus. German Wikipedia adds the supply: a borehole 243 metres deep, sunk on the grounds of the old saltworks, delivering brine of 20 to 25 %, which feeds the bath opened on 16 February 1972 east of the Greifpark. The concentrated brine is therefore diluted heavily for the pools; the operator publishes no conversion and none is made here.

On the question the name raises, the evidence is one-sided. Nothing on the operator's site names a thermal spring, gives a source temperature, or publishes a water analysis — a sweep of the home page, the Solewellenbad, Sauna-Land, Kur vor Ort, prices and opening-hours pages returned no occurrence of Quelle, Bohrung, Tiefe or Analyse at all, and every occurrence of the string Thermal was the venue's own name in the title, logo and navigation. German Wikipedia supplies a borehole and its depth but likewise no source temperature and no analysis, and describes the yield as brine rather than as thermal water. The published pool temperatures of about 30 to 35 °C are operating temperatures of heated water, not a spring temperature. The Thermal in Thermalsolbad is backed by no source: this is a brine bath (Solbad) with a deep brine borehole, and the text should say so.

The bathing area is the Solewellenbad. Its wave pool holds brine at about 30 °C with a salt content of about 2 %, and the wave machine starts every day on the hour. A brine outdoor pool, open all year, runs at the same temperature and salt content, so that swimming in the open air is possible in sun, rain or snow; the operator names massage jets, floor bubblers and neck showers, and a sun terrace, lawn and rest loungers. A whirlpool runs at about 35 °C. Free water gymnastics runs Tuesdays 13:15–13:30 and Fridays 10:15–10:30, not on public holidays or in the school holidays.

The Sauna-Land is enumerated rather than totalled: a herb sauna with colour-light therapy at about 50 to 60 °C and 35 to 45 % humidity, a Finnish sauna at about 90 °C and 5 to 15 %, a log-house sauna at about 85 °C and 5 to 15 %, and a brine steam bath at about 45 °C and 50 to 70 %. It also has a brine relaxation pool at about 34 °C with about 4 % salt content — twice the concentration of the main pools — plus a sauna garden, experience showers, a bucket shower, rest loungers and a winter garden. Men's sauna runs Wednesdays until 18:00 and ladies' sauna all day Thursday. The bath is closed Mondays and opens Tuesday to Friday 9:30–21:00 and Saturday and Sunday 8:30–19:00, with bathing ending 20 minutes before closing; the sauna runs to 21:30 on Tuesday to Friday. A day ticket for the bath costs 10.50 € for adults and 4.70 € for children aged 3 to 16, with a family ticket at 23.30 € and an evening ticket at 7.00 €; the sauna day ticket, which includes the Solewellenbad when open, costs 16.40 € for adults and 9.40 € for children aged 5 to 16.
