About

The Schinkelbad stands in the Schinkel district of Osnabrueck and is operated by Stadtwerke Osnabrueck, the municipal utility. The operator's history page dates the opening to 17 June 1976 and sets out the later stages: changing rooms and showers modernised in 2001, a gastronomy rebuild and a privately run physiotherapy centre soon after, conversion and extension work from 2009 towards a health-oriented bath, the Cabriosol opening in 2011, the first textile sauna three years later, and a second textile sauna added for the bath's fiftieth anniversary in 2026. The building is ticketed as two areas, the Sportbad and the Cabriosol, with the Cabriosol ticket including access to the Sportbad and the textile sauna.

In the Sportbad the operator names four lanes of 25 metres, a pool for non-swimmers at 29.5 C used for learn-to-swim play with balls, mats, pool noodles and a water-polo goal, and a diving facility with 1 m and 3 m boards and a separate landing pool. The sports pool water is given as 27 C. On the Cabriosol side the operator lists a brine pool at 32 C, a whirlpool at 36 C, a steam bath at 45 C and a course pool at 31.5 C with underwater music and a starry-sky ceiling, plus an illuminated salt-crystal wall, neck showers, bubble loungers and floor bubblers. The Cabriosol takes its name from a convertible roof of around 200 square metres that can be opened once the outside temperature passes 25 C, so the brine pool can be used in the open air. The water in that pool is salt water; the operator publishes no brine concentration, no source temperature and no well depth, and nowhere on the site is the water called thermal. No total pool count is published, so none is given here.

Two textile saunas are described, both used in swimwear. The existing Vital-Sauna sits on the outdoor terrace at 75 C, is barrier-free and has a height-adjustable bench. The newer Horizont-Sauna runs infusions at 90 degrees, with a published schedule: Monday to Friday at 11:00, 13:00, 16:30 (except Thursday), 18:00 and 19:00; Thursday additionally 17:00 and 20:00; Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at 11:00, 13:00, 15:30, 17:00 and 18:30. The site gives two different sauna timetables and both are recorded below rather than reconciled: the Textilsauna page's own table says Vital-Sauna Monday to Friday 9 to 21 and Saturday and Sunday 9 to 20, with the Horizont-Sauna from 11:00, while the two opening-hours pages both give the Textilsauna as 9 to 20 on weekdays and 9 to 19 at weekends.

Regular hours for the Cabriosol are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8 to 21, Tuesday and Thursday 6 to 21, Saturday and Sunday 8 to 20; the course pool is reserved for courses on weekdays and opens to bathers Saturday 14 to 20 and Sunday 8 to 20, with a small-children play offer from 14 to 18. Outside the school holidays the Sportbad is open Tuesday and Thursday 6 to 21, Friday 8 to 21 and Saturday and Sunday 8 to 20, while Monday and Wednesday are reserved for schools and clubs, with one lane usable on Wednesday from 16 to 21. Tills close 45 minutes and bathing ends 20 minutes before the stated closing time. Admission to the Cabriosol, including the Sportbad and the textile sauna, is 14.50 euro for adults on the 180-minute basic tariff and 17.80 euro for a single entry beyond 180 minutes, with reduced rates of 10.50 and 14.10 euro and family rates of 38.30 and 48.10 euro. The Sportbad alone costs 6.20 euro for adults, 4.10 euro reduced and 15.90 euro for a family, with a 3.00 euro transfer to the textile sauna. A morning tariff of 8.50 euro for 120 minutes applies on Tuesday and Thursday between 06:00 and 08:00 and does not include the sauna.
