H2O Herford

H2O is a sport and leisure bath in Herford, North Rhine-Westphalia, run by the municipal utility Stadtwerke Herford. It opened in October 1997; its leisure and sports area covers about 3,500 square metres, of which about 1,400 square metres is water surface.

Pools and slides

The bath has a 25-metre sports pool at 28 °C with a diving tower, a wave pool with a current channel, and a year-round heated outdoor pool at 32 °C. Two slides run through the building: the 146-metre Jungle-Cone and the 110-metre Thunderbird, added in November 2014 with LED screens showing several scenarios. A jungle-themed children's island called Tabokiri covers about 400 square metres.

Sauna

The sauna landscape has twelve cabins: eleven saunas and steam baths at temperatures from 45 to 100 °C and a snow cabin held at about minus 10 °C, added in October 2019. Among them are the 100 °C Saari-Sauna and Blockhaus, the 90 °C multi-element Terra, the 80 °C show sauna Vaikutus, the 65 °C panorama tower Vesitorni and the 75 °C salt sauna Suola; the snow cabin is called Lumikide.

A 36 °C whirlpool and a separate 36 °C toddler pool, Karlos Strand, sit alongside the main pools; the wave pool adds a waterfall, a water mushroom and four wave types, the sports pool has diving platforms at 1 m and 3 m, and Tabokiri includes a diving grotto with fish and a temple with a waterfall.
