About

Kristall „Heißer Brocken“ is a thermal brine bath and sauna landscape at Altenau in the Upper Harz, part of the town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld in Lower Saxony. Bathing here is textile-free.

Pools

The indoor thermal pool holds a 3% brine at about 33 °C, with a large whirlpool beside it at 36 °C. Outdoors the same 3% brine continues in a pool 1.35 m deep, and a second outdoor pool carries a weaker 1.5% brine at about 33 °C with a waterfall and a whirlpool. The strongest water is in the Hexen-Zuber, a 12% brine at about 36 °C, dense enough that the venue compares it to the Dead Sea. Pool temperatures across the bath run from 33 to 36 °C.

Programme and rest areas

Water gymnastics runs daily at 11:30 and is included in the admission. There are rest rooms on the ground floor and on the first floor, the latter with a sun terrace.

Visiting

The bath opens daily from 09:00 to 21:00, and until 22:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. A short-stay adult ticket is listed at 15.50 euros. It is at Karl-Reinecke-Weg 35.
