Freizeitbad Greifswald

Freizeitbad Greifswald is a municipal pool complex in the centre of Greifswald, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, run by Schwimmbad und Anlagen Greifswald GmbH. The present building opened on 28 June 1991; the 1960s predecessor hall was demolished in 1997.

Indoor water features include a 25-metre pool with six lanes, a diving pool with a 1-metre board and a 3-metre platform, a variable-depth pool with a movable floor, a children's pool, a fun pool with whirlpool and massage jets, and a 40-metre water slide. A heated outdoor pool adjoins a beach-style area with beach chairs.

The sauna zone offers a Finnish sauna, a steam bath, a 70 °C biosauna and an infrared sauna, with an outdoor pool that can be used textile-free.

Exact figures: the fun pool covers 640 m² at 1.35 m depth and 29 °C; the diving pool is 80 m² at 3.80 m and 27 °C; the 25-metre sports pool is 417 m² at 1.80 m and 27 °C; the variable-floor pool is 144 m² (0–1.35 m) at 32 °C; the children's pool is 8 m² at 0.40 m and 32 °C. All pools together hold 1,080 m³, with 1,065 m³ of pool water treated per hour.

The building won the international IOC/IAKS Award for sports and leisure facilities and took first place in the 2014 Public Value Award. The restaurant serves daily dishes such as homemade Soljanka and Gulaschsuppe alongside Currywurst and Kartoffelpuffer, plus a café-lounge with coffee and cake.
