A bathing and sauna complex on the Flensburg Fjord at Glücksburg, where a 31-degree adventure pool, a competition-grade 25-metre lane pool and five saunas sit a few steps from a Baltic beach the same operator runs.

About

Fördeland Therme stands on Sandwigstraße in Glücksburg, at the point where the town's promenade meets the Flensburg Fjord, and it is unusual among German thermal baths for having a stretch of Baltic beach on the same site: beach chairs, stand-up paddleboard hire and summer events such as the OstseeMan triathlon are listed alongside the pools. Inside, the warm end of the house is the adventure pool at 31 degrees, fed by bubbling geysers, cascade showers and water-massage jets, with whirlpools at 34 degrees. The children's area holds a pool at 32 degrees with just 20 centimetres of water, a small lighthouse slide and cartoon water figures, while a 105-metre family slide empties into its own separate landing pool. Outdoors there is a further pool, a second children's pool built around a miniature of Glücksburg castle, a mud playground, a sun deck and a beach volleyball court.

The sports side is kept deliberately separate. The lane pool is 25 metres long, 1.85 metres deep and held at 26 degrees, is described by the operator as competition-standard, and can be booked lane by lane; the published lane plan shows how much of each weekday afternoon and evening goes to the local swimming club, the lifesaving association DLRG, a primary school and works teams. There is a cheap two-hour sports-only ticket, an eleven-for-ten card, and on Wednesdays the building opens at 06:00 for early lane swimming before the rest of the house starts at 10:00.

The sauna world counts five cabins of quite different character: an infusion sauna at 92 degrees with hourly ceremonies, a herbal sauna at 58 degrees under a starry-sky ceiling, a steam bath at 45 degrees with full humidity, a fire sauna at 102 degrees built of Finnish polar pine with a view into the woods, and a Fischerbanja at 78 degrees in the outdoor sauna garden. Two quiet rooms, a plunge basin, a whirlpool and an outdoor pool round it out. Tickets are sold for two hours, four hours or a day, either for the thermal bath and sports pool or with the sauna added.
