About

The Thermes de Thonon-les-Bains stand at 1 avenue du Parc in Thonon-les-Bains, a Haute-Savoie lake town on the southern shore of Lake Geneva with the Alps behind it. The establishment is run by the ValVital group and takes its water from the Versoie spring, which the operator describes as naturally cool and abundant after a journey through the Alps, rich in magnesium and bicarbonates. Three therapeutic orientations are offered — rheumatology, digestive and metabolic disorders, and urinary disorders — and cure guests can combine two of them in a single eighteen-day stay, in any of four permitted pairings. The rheumatology programme addresses spinal and limb osteoarthritis, inflammatory rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia and post-traumatic joint problems; the digestive line covers metabolic disease, type 2 diabetes, overweight and irritable bowel syndrome; the urinary line rests largely on drinking the water and works on hyperuricaemia, stones and infections. Treatments combine thermal steam, mud, underwater massage, plain and hydrojet baths and treatment pools. Shorter two- to six-day mini-cures are sold alongside the conventional cure, and a residence of 28 studios and suites, the Villa Thermae, connects directly to the baths.

The public thermal spa is the part that stays open all year, closing only on 25 December and 1 January, while the cure season runs from early March to late November. Its aqua-relaxation area covers 600 m² and centres on a single thermal pool held at 32 °C, with a panoramic view over the park. Around the pool are bubbling beds and seats, swan-neck jets, an immersion massage circuit, experience showers and playful water treatments, plus a music grotto, a sauna, a hammam, cold-water wells and an ice fountain. Admission is restricted to visitors aged sixteen and over, and a standard entry covers three hours. Separate from the bathing area, the site runs a fitness space and an aquatic activity programme — aquagym, immersion hydromassage and aquabike — on season tickets, and a beauty institute for facials and massages.
