Centre thermal d'Yverdon-les-Bains

The Centre thermal d'Yverdon-les-Bains is a sulphurous thermal bath in the Vaud town of Yverdon-les-Bains, at the southern end of Lake Neuchâtel and at the foot of the Jura. It forms a single complex with the adjoining Grand Hôtel des Bains, operated by BOAS Gestion SA, but day admission to the bathing area is sold separately from hotel stays and needs no reservation. The operator states that the sulphurous thermal water was known in Roman times and exploited from the Middle Ages, and that the borehole in current use was captured in 1982, delivering 60 litres per second at a temperature of 29 °C. The water is described as high in sulphur and credited with anti-inflammatory action and with benefits for the joints, the respiratory tract, the stomach and the musculature.

The venue has been under a large-scale reconstruction since the beginning of 2024, and remains so. The operator states that the indoor building of the thermal centre closed its doors on 11 January 2024, and lists the indoor relaxation area, the indoor pool, the food area and the permanent changing rooms as no longer accessible. What is open are the two heated outdoor pools, an outdoor sauna, a heated yurt used as a rest space, and temporary changing rooms; the operator states that no hammam is available during the works. Asked how much longer the works will last, the operator answers that they are expected to finish during 2027. The programme is described as an investment of about 40 million Swiss francs by BOAS Swiss Hotels, covering a complete overhaul of the thermal infrastructure, the renovation of the Grand Hôtel's rooms and a new shared space linking the buildings.

Pool water is tempered rather than used at spring temperature. The operator gives 35 °C in autumn and winter and 31 °C in summer for the outdoor thermal pool, and 33 °C in autumn and winter and 31 °C in summer for the outdoor recreational pool; its frequently asked questions summarise the overall range as 28 to 31 °C in summer and 32 to 35 °C in winter. Stated depths are 1.35 to 1.50 m for basin 1, called Vitalité, and 1.40 m for basin 2, called Ludique. The basins are equipped with cascades, whirlpools, massage jets and relaxation loungers, and stay open in rain, being cleared only temporarily during thunderstorms.

Opening hours are 09:00 to 20:30 from Monday to Saturday and on public holidays, and 09:00 to 19:00 on Sundays, with bathers asked to leave the water 30 minutes before closing. A ticket is valid for the whole day with no time limit, and no booking is required. Children are admitted from birth, and one adult may take responsibility for at most five children. The baths stand about one kilometre from the historic town centre and are reached from the Yverdon railway station by a bus ride of roughly four minutes. Beside the bathing area the site houses a beauty and massage department, a private spa, a fitness area, a swimming school running courses for babies, children and adults, and a physiotherapy practice.
