Nama Springs

SpaBourg-Saint-Maurice, France

A sauna-and-bath house at Arc 1800 in the Savoie Alps with five sauna rooms, a hammam, an Epsom-salt flotation pool and two outdoor pools with a mountain view.

About

Nama Springs is a bath house — the operator's own word is maison de bains — in the Résidence Eden at Arc 1800, in the commune of Bourg-Saint-Maurice in Savoie. Despite the name, the water is not thermal and not spring water. The operator makes no claim of a source, a borehole or a mineral analysis anywhere on its pages; it presents the place as an Indian-inspired wellness concept, "Inspiré par la magie de l'Inde", and the only mineral content it mentions is Epsom salt added to one indoor pool. The water should be read as ordinary treated water, heated where the operator says so.

The house is built around a circuit of heat, water and alpine cold. The flotation pool is an Epsom-salt basin with underwater music and a lit floral mural, intended for sensory-isolation sessions. There is a traditional hammam built on the lotus image. The operator states that the house offers five different sauna experiences drawn from bathing traditions around the world: a panoramic sauna, an Aufgusstheater, a forest sauna, a salt-crystal sauna and an infrared cabin. Cold is handled by an ice fountain and a cold-water plunge pool, described by the operator under the heading of thermotherapy, and by an ice-water bath and an experience shower. A relaxation lounge with water mattresses and a herbal-tea room completes the circuit.

Outdoors there are two pools with a view over the mountains, fitted with counter-current swim jets, sheet-water fountains and underwater jets; the operator notes in the same sentence that these outdoor pools are not heated in winter. Massages and treatments are sold separately from the bathing entry.

The house is open every day of the week and, according to the footer, from 10:00. Admission is sold in two blocks that imply a midday break, which the footer's "open every day, from 10:00" does not mention: a morning entry from 10:00 to 13:00 at 34 euros and an afternoon entry from 14:00 to 19:00 at 42 euros. Entry is restricted to visitors aged 15 and over. The operator publishes no opening year; the site is run by Welness Resources SARL, registered at Fréjus.
