Where these facts come from

Thermes de Brides-les-Bains is a thermal establishment in Brides-les-Bains in Savoie, in the heart of the Trois Vallees. Inside it, the Grand Spa Thermal is open to ordinary visitors on a spa entry ticket and combines a 600 square metre Espace Aquatique with a 500 square metre Espace Detente; the conventioned eighteen-day cures are a separate medical offer. According to the operator the drinking-cure water comes from the Hybord Sud spring, naturally hot and drawn from 44 metres below ground, and its technical director states that the thermal water undergoes no chemical treatment. The operator gives the 2026 thermal season as 23 March to 31 October.

About

Thermes de Brides-les-Bains stands at 2 rue des Thermes in Brides-les-Bains, Savoie, which the operator places in the heart of the Trois Vallees and presents as France's leading thermal resort for weight loss and for treating rheumatism. The establishment runs two quite different things under one roof. One is medical: conventioned eighteen-day thermal cures and five-day mini-cures, the latter stated by the operator to need no medical prescription. The other, and the subject of this entry, is the Grand Spa Thermal, which sells spa entry tickets and a la carte treatments to ordinary visitors; the operator describes it as one of the largest thermal spas in France thanks to its vast spaces, thermal expertise and modern infrastructure. The operator gives the 2026 thermal season as 23 March to 31 October and states that booking is required.

Thermal water

The site states that the Thermes benefit from thermal springs at Brides-les-Bains and at Salins-les-Thermes. For the drinking cure, prescribed by the thermal doctor, the operator states that the water comes from the Hybord Sud spring, is naturally hot, is drawn from 44 metres below ground and acts on liver function. The operator writes that the composition of the thermal water combined with its treatment techniques acts on the circulation, cellulite deposits, skin tone and water retention, and that hot thermal water combined with manual work has an analgesic, decongestant, relaxing and sedative effect on muscular tension and joints; these are the operator's stated orientations rather than demonstrated effects. On quality, the site says samples are taken regularly in-house at the emergence and at various points including treatment stations, pools and showers, and that the regional health agency ARS also carries out unannounced checks. The establishment's technical director is quoted on the site as saying that the thermal water "undergoes no chemical treatment" and is kept under daily surveillance.

Pools

According to the operator the Grand Spa Thermal has been equipped since 2018 with an Espace Aquatique of 600 square metres comprising a 25-metre swim lane, an aquaforme pool of 25 square metres fitted with equipment, and a leisure pool 18 metres long with two jacuzzis, two bubble beds, underwater jets, six swan-neck jets and other water features, alongside a herbal tea room and a sheltered outdoor terrace. The operator describes the spa's second area as an Espace Detente of 500 square metres but does not itemise it on the pages read. On the cure side the site lists two mixed thermal pools in its extension, used for mobilisation or for trombes. At Salins-les-Thermes the operator also runs the thermal pool of the Grands Bains de Salins, which it calls one of the largest anti-pain thermal pools in France and whose water it describes as having a salinity close to sea water, favouring buoyancy; that pool is a separate site.

Treatments

The operator's a la carte list of thermal treatments at the Grand Spa Thermal includes a massage under an affusion of Brides-les-Bains thermal water, a scrub under affusion with a Kessa glove, a thermal rain giving multiple jets over the back, an aerojet bath combining thermal-water jets with pressurised air, a jet massage bath in which a hydrotherapist works the immersed body with a pressurised jet, a jet shower, and local steam boxes for hands, wrists, feet and ankles. The site states that these have circulatory, decongestant, draining, relaxing and analgesic actions. Alongside them the operator offers short stays of three to nine days targeting slimming, peri-menopause, wellbeing and beauty, facial and body beauty treatments with the French brand Sothys, MediSpa treatments including cryolipolysis, world massages given by qualified physiotherapists, aquaforme classes, and half-day Pause Spa formulas combining a treatment with free access to the spa.

Sauna and wellness

The operator states that any treatment lasting 20 minutes or more gives free access to the activities of the Espace Detente and the Espace Aquatique, excluding the aquaforme pool, during the half-day in which it is given. The wider establishment, used mainly by cure guests, also holds an Espace Nutrition of 600 square metres with a conference room, individual consultation offices and cooking workshops, and an Espace Activites Physiques of more than 300 square metres on the top floor of the 2018 extension, with a cardio-training circuit, a group class room and a terrace.

Opening hours

For the 2026 season the operator states that the Grand Spa Thermal is open from 23 March to 31 October, Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 20:00, and that the Espace Aquatique is open only Monday to Saturday from 14:00 to 19:30. Cure treatments are given on a different timetable, stated as 7:00 to 14:00 from 23 March to 3 July 2026 and 7:00 to 19:00 from 4 July. Spa entry tickets are sold as a morning Espace Detente entry of four hours and an afternoon Espace Detente and Espace Aquatique entry of five hours, Monday to Saturday. The operator sets a minimum age of 16 for the spa and states that access is permitted only in a classic swimming costume, one-piece and not full-coverage, or a two-piece and swim briefs, with bermudas, shorts, underwear worn under costumes, burkinis, veils and headscarves not allowed.
