Wellness Javor

Wellness Javor is at Javorská 23, 34004 Železná Ruda, in the centre of the Šumava mountain town near the Špičák ski slopes, with its reception inside the Rezidence Javor building. It is a small indoor wellness rather than a thermal or mineral bath: the operator publishes no spring, no well and no water analysis, and describes the pool simply as a modern relaxation pool. Everything is sold to the public by the hour, so it is open to day visitors as well as to residents of the building.

The pool hall holds a relaxation pool measuring 12 by 6 metres at 28 °C, with a gradual entry deepening from 1.2 to 1.5 metres and a spout that ripples the surface, and beside it a whirlpool at 33 °C for four people; showers and changing rooms adjoin. The operator notes that the highest mountain of the Šumava can be seen from the windows.

What the operator calls the sauna paradise has three cabins. The Finnish sauna is kept at around 90 °C with humidity of roughly 20 % and takes at most four people at a time. The infrared sauna, aimed at muscle recovery after hiking or skiing, is for two. The steam sauna runs at a gentler temperature of around 48 °C, scented with a natural aroma essence, and holds two to three people. Cooling off is done immediately on the patio.

A compact gym completes the building, equipped with dumbbells, a weight tower, a cycle ergometer and a rowing machine, plus a table-tennis table and floor space for stretching and yoga.

Prices are given inclusive of 12 % VAT: the pool costs 200 Kč for an hour and a half, 300 Kč for three hours and 1,600 Kč for a ten-entry pass; wellness, meaning pool and sauna together, costs 390 Kč for an hour and a half, 590 Kč for three hours and 3,120 Kč for ten entries; the gym costs 140 Kč an hour and 200 Kč for two. Children up to 12 pay reduced rates, children under 5 are free, and a towel or sheet can be hired for 50 Kč or 30–40 Kč. Last admission to the wellness is 90 minutes before closing.

The seasonal timetable printed on the site gives Monday closed, Tuesday to Friday 14:00–21:00, Saturday 10:00–21:00 and Sunday 10:00–17:00. A second table splits the year: from December to March the pool and gym run 14:00–21:00 on Tuesday to Friday, 10:00–21:00 on Saturday and 10:00–17:00 on Sunday, while the wellness combination of pool and sauna starts at 16:00 on weekdays; from April to November the same rows are printed without any Sunday line. Reception works Tuesday to Friday 14:00–21:00 and Saturday 10:00–21:00.
