ThermaSalina is a thermal spa in Salins-les-Bains, in the Jura, built on the town's naturally salt-rich springs; its sodium-chloride waters are described by the establishment as denser in mineral salts than the Dead Sea. It combines a relaxation area (thermo-ludic pool, saunas, hammam, caldarium) with social-security-approved 18-day thermal cures oriented toward rheumatology.
About
ThermaSalina is the thermal spa of Salins-les-Bains, in the heart of the Jura, occupying a single-level, 2,800 m² facility. It draws on the town's naturally salt-rich springs: the establishment describes its thermal water as very rich in sodium chloride and trace elements, and as denser in mineral salts than the Dead Sea. The site pairs a public relaxation area with a medical thermal-cure programme.
Thermal water
According to the spa, the water is of the sodium-chloride type ("chlorurée sodique") and carries trace elements including potassium, magnesium and calcium. It is drawn from the Cordeliers well at a depth of roughly 150 metres. The establishment attributes analgesic (antalgic) and remineralizing effects to the water, and links it to improved joint flexibility and muscle relaxation.
Relaxation area
The relaxation space centres on a thermo-ludic pool of close to 200 m², equipped with eight massage jets, a counter-current swim lane and two massage benches, together with a jacuzzi. Heated rooms include two saunas (stated at 75°C and 85°C), a hammam (45°C) and a caldarium (36°C). Open terraces offer views toward Fort Saint-André. The facility also lists electronic wristband-controlled lockers, nine shower cabins, and a rest area with a coffee machine and water fountain.
Thermal cures and treatments
ThermaSalina offers thermal cures approved by the French social security system, with a stated therapeutic orientation in rheumatology; the establishment cites conditions such as arthritis, tendinitis, fibromyalgia and post-traumatic sequelae. These conventional cures last 18 days. Treatments described by the spa include hydrotherapy (aerated baths, hand and foot baths, jet showers, underwater high-pressure showers, mud applications and Berthollaix-type steam treatments), kinesiotherapy (massages under a saltwater ramp), aesthetic care, and an adapted-physical-activity pool. Shorter wellness options — described as escales, parenthèses and mini-cures — are also offered.
Access and hours
The relaxation area is open Monday to Saturday from 14:30 to 18:30, and on Sunday from 9:30 to 11:45 and 14:00 to 17:30; on public holidays it opens 14:00 to 17:30. It is stated closed on 28 March, 1 May, and 24, 25 and 31 December. The spa notes that children under 12 are not admitted to the relaxation area, and that the saunas, hammam and caldarium are reserved for adults.
