About

The Hotel Balneario de Lugo stands on the bank of the River Miño, on the site of one of the oldest thermal establishments in Spain. Its healing waters were already known and prized in Roman times, and the surviving Termas Romanas (Roman Baths) remain the historic heart of the spa, in the Galician city of Lugo.

Roman thermal springs & source

The quality of the water here was celebrated in antiquity, as the on-site Roman baths bear witness. The natural spring rises at a constant temperature of 43.8 °C. The water is sulphurous-sodic, bicarbonated and lightly mineralised, and has long been used for its therapeutic properties, traditionally applied to rheumatic, respiratory, dermatological and general wellbeing conditions.

Roman Baths

The Termas Romanas are a monument of Roman cultural heritage preserved within the establishment and open to visitors during scheduled hours, connecting today's guests with the site's ancient bathing tradition.
