About
The Hotel Balneario de Lugo is a spa hotel on the bank of the Miño in the Galician city of Lugo, near the old Roman bridge. It stands on the site of a Roman bathing establishment, and the remains of those baths, the Termas Romanas, are preserved inside the building and can be visited.
The water
The spring rises at a constant 43.8 °C. The water is sulphurous and sodic, with bicarbonate, and lightly mineralised. It was already valued in Roman times, when the town was Lucus Augusti.
Baths and treatments
The spa has a covered thermal pool and thermal baths at different temperatures, with hydrojet and pressure-jet treatments, a circular shower, bubble baths, aerosols and inhalations. Massages and mud wraps are also given, and the treatment programmes come with a medical consultation.
The hotel
The hotel has three stars, 60 double rooms and 2 single rooms, two dining rooms and a cafeteria, a lounge, a chapel and a lift for guests with reduced mobility.
