Terme Portorož is a certified natural spa in the Slovenian coastal resort of Portorož, part of the LifeClass Hotels & Spa complex, combining thermomineral and heated-seawater pools with a 1,000 m² sauna park and a medical centre treating locomotor and respiratory conditions.
About
Terme Portorož is a thermal and wellness spa in Portorož, on Slovenia's Adriatic coast, operated as part of the LifeClass Hotels & Spa complex at Obala 33. The site describes it as a certified natural spa that is open year-round and organised into seven specialised well-being centres, among them a Medical Center, a Thalasso Center, a Shakti Ayurveda Center, a Wai Thai Center, a Beauty Center, the Sea Spa and the Sauna Park.
The water
The spa draws on local thermomineral springs, and the site notes that the chemical composition of this thermomineral water is unusual for this part of Europe; its recorded minerals include iron. Alongside the thermomineral water it also uses heated seawater. The thermomineral and seawater pools are kept between roughly 30 and 31 °C, while the hot tubs reach about 36 °C.
Pools and saunas
The thermomineral pool area comprises a swimming pool, a large resting pool, a children's pool, two whirlpools and a sun terrace. The Sea Spa, reserved for hotel guests, adds a large indoor seawater pool with massage nozzles, a children's pool, an outdoor pool and its own Finnish and Turkish saunas. The Sauna Park covers approximately 1,000 m² and offers several sauna types, including infrared, salt, thalasso, herbal and Finnish saunas, a tepidarium and a laconium, an ice cave, and a Moorish sauna that functions as a classic Turkish bath at 100% humidity; sauna temperatures range from around 35 °C up to 85–110 °C in the Finnish sauna.
Medical and wellness care
The Medical Center presents itself as staffed by a multidisciplinary health team and offers preventive and curative programmes, programmes for athletes, expert examinations and consultations, diagnosis, therapeutic services, and manual therapy and mechanotherapy. Stated indications include disorders of the locomotor apparatus such as rheumatic and degenerative diseases, post-operative conditions and injuries, as well as chronic respiratory and skin problems and issues such as stress, fatigue, obesity and smoking. Further treatment is available through the Thalasso, Ayurveda, Wai Thai and Beauty centres. Six connected hotels sit within the complex, allowing guests to reach the pools directly from their rooms.
Visiting
The thermomineral pools are generally open daily from 7:00 to 21:00 (from 14:00 on Thursdays), and the Sauna Park from 16:00 to 21:00; the Medical Center operates Monday to Friday 7:00–15:00 and Saturday 8:00–13:00. Day-visitor tickets for the thermomineral pools start at €11 for adults and €8 for children for a 120-minute weekday visit, while a two-hour Sauna Park entry for external guests costs from €20 on weekdays. Children under 3 enter the pools free of charge.
