Terme Krka thalasso resort in the Strunjan Landscape Park with heated seawater pools, a large sauna world and a Blue Flag beach; day visitors admitted.

About

Talaso Strunjan is a health resort and thalassotherapy centre on the Slovenian coast, set among the pines of the Strunjan Landscape Park at Strunjan 148 near Portorož and operated by Terme Krka. Its bathing water and its treatments both come from the sea: the resort's wellness centre, Vitarium Spa & Thalasso in the Svoboda Hotel, bases all of its services on seawater, salt, mud and sea air. The operator records 2,300 hours of sunshine a year in Strunjan.

The pools hold heated seawater rather than thermal water. The main indoor pool measures 432 square metres and is filled with seawater heated to 32 °C, and is open all year. From mid-April to October a 114 square metre outdoor pool is open at a water temperature of 26 to 28 °C, and there is also a 59 square metre massage pool and a children's pool. Sea bathing is possible from the resort's own swimming area in Strunjan Bay, which the operator states has held a Blue Flag for 21 years in a row.

The sauna area includes a Finnish sauna at 80 to 95 °C, a Turkish steam bath, an aroma sauna, a steam sauna used with a salt scrub from the Sečovlje salt pans, two infrared cabins and a Finnish sauna with a wall of Himalayan salt, along with an ice fountain and a whirlpool. Guided sauna rituals, salt scrubs and air-whirl sessions run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Alongside the pools the centre gives seawater baths, fango wraps, salt peels, facial treatments and massages, and runs multi-day guided thalassotherapy programmes such as Anti-Stress & Healthy Living, Thalasso Detox and Thalasso Selfness.

Day visitors are admitted to the pools and the saunas; the saunas are open to accompanied minors from the age of 14. The indoor and outdoor pools are open daily and on holidays from 8:00 to 20:00 and the saunas from 12:00 to 20:00. Reservations for the pools and saunas are not taken, and the operator asks visitors to telephone in advance to check whether the centre is full. Accommodation on site ranges from the four-star Svoboda Hotel to the Laguna and several villas.
