ir. Ottenbad

Ir. Ottenbad is the municipal family bath of Eindhoven at Vijfkamplaan 12, run by Eindhoven Sport; the database row carries the name of its outdoor section, but the operator treats the outdoor pool as one part of a year-round bath and describes the venue as a whole: «Zwembad ir. Ottenbad is een gezelligs familiebad in Eindhoven» with «een recreatiebad, 25-meterbad, instructiebad, therapiebad, peuterbaden en buitenbad met glijbaan». The water is plain heated pool water: the operator names no spring, no thermal source and no mineral content, and the pools are given only as heated to set temperatures.

The operator enumerates the pools without giving a total. The recreation pool measures 33 by 20 metres, shelves to 1.8 m and is kept at about 29.5 degrees, with bubble pools at 34 degrees, steam cabins admitting two people each, and the swimmers' terrace for food and drink alongside. The 25-metre pool is 25 by 14 metres, 1.75 m to 4.00 m deep and also about 29.5 degrees; the instruction pool is 14 by 11 metres at about 33.5 degrees; the compact therapy pool, 18 by 7.5 metres, is held at about 33.5 degrees for therapeutic classes, water gymnastics for older people, pregnancy swimming and baby and toddler lessons. Indoor toddler pools are three circular basins of 6.4 m diameter at three depths and about 34 degrees. A lifting hoist serves the therapy pool, the instruction pool and the 25-metre pool; the outdoor pool has none, only shallow steps. The bath has three accessible toilets, five large changing rooms by the changing halls and four by the cabins, and four water chairs at the recreation pool.

The outdoor section, open in good weather from May to September, holds a 33 by 33 metre pool shelving from 1.25 m to 1.35 m with two slides, a separate 22 by 14 metre baby and toddler pool 0.40 m to 0.60 m deep, a sunbathing lawn and a screened sun terrace with free loungers. The operator's pages contradict each other on whether that outdoor toddler pool is heated: the outdoor section states «Het buitenbad wordt verwarmd tot ongeveer 19 graden en warmt zich vervolgens verder op aan de hand van de temperatuur/zon buiten», while the toddler-pool section of the same page states «Het buitenbad wordt niet verwarmd en warmt zich op aan de hand van de temperatuur/zon buiten»; both agree the temperature then varies with sun and air and differs from day to day. Regular outdoor hours are 13.00 to 18.00 Monday to Friday and 10.00 to 17.00 at weekends; from 24 August the outdoor pool opens only at 21 degrees or more and a weather score of at least 7, and from Monday 28 September it closes until the next outdoor season. Indoor recreational swimming is published as a rolling day-by-day agenda in the operator's booking system rather than as fixed weekly hours, and visits are reserved through the webshop. The operator publishes no opening year for the bath.
