Terme di Sirmione Virgilio

Terme di Sirmione is a thermal spa complex on the Sirmione peninsula on Lake Garda, in northern Italy (Piazza Virgilio 1, Colombare di Sirmione). Operated by Terme e Grandi Alberghi Sirmione S.p.A., it draws on a single natural thermal source and organises its offer around a spa thermal garden, wellness hotels, a therapy centre and a cosmetics institute. The official website describes the company as having more than 130 years of experience.

Thermal water

The water rises from the Boiola spring, located below Lake Garda. According to the official site, it originates from rainfall on the Monte Baldo basin at over 800 metres altitude, infiltrates the rock and enriches itself with minerals over roughly a 20-year underground journey before surfacing at around 69°C. It is classified as hyperthermal and bacteriologically pure, combining sulphurous and salso-bromo-iodine (salt-bromine-iodine) waters, and is described as having anti-inflammatory, decongestant, mucolytic and antiseptic action.

Aquaria Thermal Spa

The Aquaria spa and thermal garden centres on thermal pools fed by this sulphurous salso-bromo-iodine water. It includes an outdoor thermal pool (depth 140 cm) with whirlpools, effervescent beds and swan-neck jets, and an indoor thermal pool (depth 90-120 cm), both kept at about 34°C in summer and 36°C in winter. Further water features include a vascular path of two half-moon whirlpool pools at 24°C and 34°C, the circular DIVA whirlpool bath with 10 massage jets, the MUSA cervical hydromassage with 22 jets, and an infinity pool of freshwater with lake views at about 30°C.

Saunas and steam

The site lists a Finnish outdoor sauna with lake view (60-90°C, 10-20% humidity), a sauna circuit with three Finnish saunas for detoxification, a Roman bath (35-40°C, 40% humidity), a steam bath (40-45°C, 98% humidity) and a Turkish bath / Hammam (40-50°C, 98% humidity).

Wellness and treatments

Wellness spaces described on the site include treatment and relaxation areas, a salt room, a music room, a starry-sky room, and a medical spa offering health circuits. Beyond the spa, a dedicated therapy centre provides medical treatments across specialisms including otorhinolaryngology, bronchopneumology, dermatology, gynaecology and gastroenterology, and a cosmetics institute offers aesthetic treatments.

Facilities and visiting

On-site the complex includes wellness hotels and a Bistrot serving options such as gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan and vegetarian dishes. The Aquaria spa opening hours stated on the site are Sunday-Thursday 9:00 to 22:00 and Friday-Saturday 9:00 to midnight.
