About
Bormio Terme is the municipal thermal-bath complex in the mountain town of Bormio, in Italy's Valtellina region (Via Stelvio 14, 23032 Bormio, province of Sondrio). It combines thermal swimming and wellness facilities with a dedicated health and thermal-cure department, and describes itself as a centre specialised since 1920. Its pools are fed by naturally hot thermal water that emerges at between 37 and 40°C and is used chlorine-free.
Thermal water
The complex states that its water is naturally hot, emerging at 37-40°C, and that it is kept chlorine-free. The water underpins the site's therapeutic services, including inhalation therapy, balneotherapy, mud therapy, physiotherapy and a vascular circuit.
Pools
The bathing area combines indoor and outdoor pools kept at different temperatures. Facilities described include a renovated indoor sport swimming pool (about 25 x 16 m, 28°C, depth graded from 1.20 m to 1.80 m); the year-round Four Seasons' Pool (partly outdoor, 33°C, with whirlpools, hydro-massage beds and water streams for walking exercises); the open-sided Stelvio Pool (about 35°C, with whirlpool beds and thermal waterfalls); and an outdoor pool (28-29°C) with thermal waterfalls and water jets, open year-round. A 60-metre waterslide is also part of the wellness offering.
Sauna and wellness
Bormio Terme offers a Thermarium and wellness area for adults, plus a Family Wellness path. Stated facilities include a Finnish sauna, a bio sauna, a Turkish bath, an ice-cold bath and relaxation areas, along with a solarium park with loungers and an outdoor thermal park. An adults-only "Wellness +16" section is also available. Additional wellness activities mentioned include Aufguss rituals and scrubs.
Children
The complex provides dedicated pools and play areas for young children, including water games and slides.
Spa, treatments and health services
An aesthetic centre provides facial and body treatments and massages. The health department offers thermal cures (inhalation, balneotherapy, mud therapy, physiotherapy, vascular circuit), specialist medical visits and ultrasound examinations, and a "Bormio Terme Lab" for sports performance and rehabilitation. Swimming courses (from babies to adults) and hydrobike classes are also offered.
Food and facilities
On-site catering includes the Terme Bistrot and a terrace bar. The complex also markets a cosmetics line derived from its thermal water.
Hours and entry
The wellness and thermal-pools area is stated as open 9:00-20:00 without reservation, while the health and thermal-cures area operates 10:00-12:00 and 16:00-20:00 by mandatory reservation. Guests are asked to leave the pools and services 30 minutes before closing.
