Therme Miriquidi is the thermal bath in Thermalbad Wiesenbad in Saxony's Erzgebirge, Germany, fed by the fluoride- and carbonic-acid-bearing Georgsquelle spring and offering a 400 m² thermal pool alongside a Finnish sauna and outdoor steam grotto.
About
Therme Miriquidi is the thermal bath at Thermalbad Wiesenbad, a spa town in Saxony's Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) region of Germany. According to the site it was the first public thermal bath to open in the former East German states, opening in 1995.
The water
The bath draws on the Georgsquelle spring, which the operator describes as delivering water at a constant 26 °C. The water is fluoride- and carbonic-acid-bearing, and since 1998 the spring has held state recognition as a healing spring (Heilquelle) for both drinking and bathing cures. The site attributes a relaxing and pain-relieving effect to bathing in it.
Pools & saunas
The thermal pool area covers 400 m² of water surface at a uniform depth of 1.35 m, with water temperatures given as 31–35 °C. The sauna area includes a Finnish sauna run at 90–95 °C with around 20% humidity, where infusions are offered on the hour and half hour, and an outdoor steam grotto (Dampfgrotte) at roughly 40 °C with 100% humidity. Both areas are served by cold-water plunge pools (Kaltwassertauchbecken), three footbath basins, and indoor and outdoor rest areas. The site states that use of the sauna, steam grotto and light therapy is included in the admission price.
Facilities
The bath is described as wheelchair-accessible (rollstuhlgerecht) and sits alongside a spa park (Kurpark). A separate Thermal herb wellness area (Thermal-Kräuter-Wellness) is offered on the wider site.
