About
Saarland Therme is a thermal bath at Rilchingen-Hanweiler in Saarland, built in an oriental style around the local saline spring. The venue counts roughly 100 water attractions across its bathing, sauna and spa areas, and it is one of the few large German therms open to adults only for most of the week.
The water
The spring at Rilchingen yields a saline water recognised as Heilwasser, with calcium and magnesium as its main constituents. Pool temperatures run between 30 and 36 °C depending on the basin, and drinking-cure stations are placed around the building.
Pools
The central indoor basin is held at 37 °C and fitted with massage jets and bubble loungers. A cascading thermal whirlpool at the same temperature seats ten. Two smaller sitting baths run at 37 °C — the Vitalbad, enriched with iodine and fitted with jets, and the Mineralbad. The brine pool is cooler, at 34 °C, and a Kneipp basin alternates cold and warm water. There is also an outdoor pool, and a salt-inhalation area for breathing the brine-laden air.
Steam and sauna
An oriental steam bath runs at 45 °C with 100% humidity, and a Kelo sauna at 80 °C with 20% humidity. A separate textile-free zone is charged as a supplement rather than included.
Age limit
Since 1 July 2023 admission is from the age of 18, with one standing exception: on Wednesdays the bath runs a family day from 09:00 to midnight when under-18s are admitted.
Visiting
The bath opens daily at 09:00 and closes at midnight from Sunday to Thursday, at 01:00 on Fridays and at 02:00 on Saturdays; last admission is two hours before closing. On weekdays two hours cost 27.50 EUR, four hours 32.50 EUR and a day 37.50 EUR; with the textile-free area the same tickets are 32.50, 37.50 and 42.50 EUR. At weekends and on holidays the rates are 30.00, 35.00 and 40.00 EUR, or 35.00, 40.00 and 45.00 EUR with the textile-free area. Eleven-entry cards are sold at ten times the single price. Full rates apply from twelve months old. A linen package rents for 20 EUR, a bathrobe 13 EUR, a sauna towel 8 EUR and swimwear 7 EUR.
