湯圍溝溫泉公園 (湯圍風呂)

Thermal bathJiaoxi, Yilan, Taiwan

Jiaoxi's flagship public hot-spring park in downtown Yilan, with free outdoor footbaths and a hinoki-wood bathhouse fed by odorless sodium-bicarbonate springs.

About

Tangweigou Hot Spring Park (湯圍溝溫泉公園), also known as Tangwei Furo (湯圍風呂), sits at the heart of Jiaoxi's hot-spring district in downtown Yilan, where naturally welling spring water gathers along the old "Tangwei" channel between Deyang and Renai Roads.

The water

Jiaoxi's springs are a colorless, odorless sodium-bicarbonate (碳酸氫鈉) type rich in sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium and carbonate ions. Prized as "beauty water," it leaves skin smooth and non-sticky after soaking. The water surfaces at around 58°C, and the park's footbath area is topped up roughly every 15 minutes, reaching about 50°C during each refill.

Pools & footbaths

  • Free semi-outdoor public foot-soaking pools along the landscaped water channel
  • A Zen-style hinoki (Japanese cypress) bathhouse
  • Scenic pavilions, waterside walkways and bridges through the park grounds

Setting

Laid out by the Yilan County Government as a public thermal park, it lies about 570 m from Jiaoxi Railway Station and is a centerpiece of the town's winter hot-spring season.
