Water park and spa at Rivera in Ticino, combining a wave pool and seven slides with a spa built around an iodine brine pool and four saunas.

About

Splash & Spa Tamaro is a combined water park and spa at Via Campagnole 1 in Rivera, in the commune of Monteceneri in the Swiss canton of Ticino, at the foot of Monte Tamaro. The operator divides the complex into three areas: Splash, the water park; a spa; and a fitness centre. It is open 365 days a year.

The Splash area is built around a wave pool measuring 18 by 30 metres, with a depth of 0.20 to 1.35 metres and water at 30 degrees, generating waves up to one metre high. An outdoor pool with panoramic views, reachable from inside or from the terrace, is 1.35 metres deep and held between 31 and 34 degrees, and a jacuzzi with a pool bar, of the same depth and temperature range, has more than 80 water jets and submerged loungers. A children's area and a family hammam at 45 degrees and 100 per cent humidity complete the zone. Seven slides are listed: Cannon Bowl and Twister, both described as new; Mania, Tunnel of Horror, Wash Machine, Black Night and Gravity Killer. Minimum heights range from 120 to 140 centimetres and the vehicles vary from mats and free-body descents to two- and four-seater rafts.

The spa is organised around four saunas with rising temperatures: a salt sauna with Himalayan salt walls at 65 degrees, a clay sauna at 75 degrees, a chestnut sauna using Ticino chestnut wood at 85 degrees and an outdoor sauna in the Nordic tradition at 95 degrees, where the infusion ceremonies are held. A hammam ritual runs through the Sogukluk at 30 degrees and 65 per cent humidity, the herb-scented Bingul at 45 degrees and 100 per cent humidity, the Sicalick warm-water pool at 38 degrees with underwater music, and a Rhassoul mud treatment charged separately. The spa's own pools are an iodine brine pool at 31 to 34 degrees, whose therapeutic effect the operator attributes to iodine and a high salt mineral content, and a cold plunge pool at 12 to 14 degrees. A snow room held between minus 5 and minus 12 degrees, an ice fountain, aroma showers, bucket showers and a Kneipp circuit round out the cold and contrast facilities, alongside two relaxation rooms, one of which houses a sound-and-image installation by Franco Mussida.

Pools, slides and the spa run Monday to Sunday from 11:00 to 20:45, with the slides opening at 12:00. The fitness centre opens 07:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 18:00 at weekends and public holidays. The operator does not publish an opening year, a total water surface area or a total pool count.
