Therme București

Therme București is an indoor thermal and wellness complex at Balotești, on the DN1 road north of Bucharest and close to Henri Coandă airport. The English Wikipedia article on its owner, Therme Group, states that it opened in 2016 and describes it as having been reported in travel coverage as one of the largest spa and wellness destinations in Europe; the operator itself calls the site the largest wellness centre in Romania and, in an answer about air handling, the largest health and wellbeing ecosystem in Europe. These superlatives are claims by the operator and by press coverage rather than measured comparisons, and no floor area is published on the site.

The complex is divided into three ticketed zones: Galaxy, a family area with wave pool, slides and children's water playground; The Palm, a quieter relaxation area to which children over three are not admitted; and Elysium, the sauna and treatment zone. Attractions are listed individually by name — mineral pools, a selenium and zinc pool, outdoor pools in the Galaxy and The Palm zones, a salt library, more than a dozen named saunas and a long list of slides — but the operator publishes no pool or sauna count. Pool depths are given: the Galaxy wave pool runs from 1.30 m to 2.10 m at its deepest point, and all other pools are stated not to exceed 1.26 m.

The operator states that the geothermal water is extracted from more than 3,100 metres depth and treated by decalcification, desulphation, decarbonation and finally ozonation, and that chlorination follows Romanian regulations at a concentration close to the legal minimum. Water temperature in the Galaxy zone is given as between 33 and 36 degrees. The water is described as rich in mineral salts, copper, zinc, selenium, calcium and magnesium, and explicitly as not radioactive.

All three zones open Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 23:00, Friday and Saturday from 09:00 to 00:00 and Sunday from 09:00 to 23:00, with facilities closing 30 minutes earlier and last admission an hour and a half before closing. The Galaxy zone is announced as under maintenance from 21 to 25 September 2026, during which children under 14 are given a free upgrade to The Palm.
