Terme di Cervia

Terme di Cervia is a thermal spa located at Via Forlanini 16 in Cervia (province of Ravenna), on the Adriatic coast of Emilia-Romagna. Set within an ancient pine forest close to the sea, it has operated as a health spa since 1960. Its treatments draw on the town's salt-making heritage: the therapeutic use of local resources traces back to Cervia's salt workers, and the spa's saline water is delivered directly from the nearby Cervia salt pans.

Thermal water

The spa uses a saline water known as "Acqua Madre," a bromide-iodine (salso-bromo-iodica) brine taken directly from the salt pans. The site states it is rich in sodium chloride, bromine and iodine, and also references calcium, magnesium, sulphates and bicarbonates. Since the 1960s the spa has conducted research on these thermal elements.

Thermal pool

The main thermal pool measures 30 x 15 m, with depth ranging from 1.30 m at the shallow end to 1.7 m. The water is kept at a constant 33°C, with a salt concentration of 6° Baumé, four times higher than that of the sea. The pool features lateral jets at various heights for underwater hydro-massage and three fresh-water rain ceiling showers. Guests are advised to limit immersion to 20 minutes at a time. Additional pools include a vascular circuit, a rehabilitation pool, an outdoor hydro-massage pool and a solarium hydro-pool.

Treatments

The facility is an authorized and accredited health spa. Its stated treatments include balneotherapy, mud therapy, inhalation therapy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, massages, and health and beauty services. Water-based activities such as water aerobics and water pilates are also offered.

Indications

According to the site, the water addresses diseases of the respiratory tract (ear, nose and throat), osteoarthritis, and other degenerative and vascular conditions, with benefits stated for both adults and children.

Facilities

Beyond the pools, the spa includes a solarium terrace with hydromassage and relaxation areas, a gymnasium, and a Kneipp pathway. It also offers well-being programs including guided health walks ("Passeggiata della salute") and a cosmetics line.

Season

The spa states a 2026 operating season from May 4 to December 19.
