About
Forest Lagoon (Skógarböðin) is a geothermal spa among the birch and pine of Vaðlaskógur, a five-minute drive across Eyjafjörður from Akureyri in North Iceland.
There are two pools, both at 37 °C. The larger, 530 m², has three swim-up bars and access from indoors; the smaller is 330 m². The Finnish sauna runs at around 80 °C and 20% humidity, with views over the fjord and the mountains, and swimwear is worn in it. Next to it is a cold pool at 11 °C.
Skógur Bistro serves light meals in a wood-clad room with a fireplace, and has outdoor seating looking over Akureyri and the forest.
