Loutra Pozar SPA

Loutra Pozar lies in a rocky ravine at the foot of Mount Voras (Kaimaktsalan), in the municipality of Almopia, about 13 km from Aridaia and 100 km from Thessaloniki. The site covers 7.2 hectares along the Thermopotamos river, and since 2019 it has been certified as a Thermal Therapy Unit. It is open all year.

The water

Six springs emerge at an altitude of 360–390 metres. The water starts as rain, sinks deep underground, is heated and rises again carrying minerals, at a steady 37 °C in every season. Along the river it forms warm waterfalls and natural pools where people bathe in the open, with cafés among the trees beside them.

Pools and baths

The Alexandreio Hydrotherapy Centre has 11 private thermal pools. The Old Hydrotherapy Centre has 2 pools, 2 hammams and individual bathtubs. Outdoors there is an Olympic-size pool filled with the thermal water, and massage is offered.

Around the spa

The grounds have a café-restaurant, a shop selling local products and a Folklore and History Museum. The mountains around have hiking and climbing routes and 15 caves that make up Greece's first speleological park, one of them 50 metres deep.
