Thermes de Bourbon-l’Archambault

Overview

The Thermes de Bourbon-l'Archambault are a working thermal-cure establishment set in the Bocage Bourbonnais of the Allier department, in the northern reaches of the Auvergne. The station centres on a curative programme built around its natural hot springs, welcoming patients for classic three-week medicalised cures alongside shorter mini-cures, health stays and wellness retreats.

The thermal water

The springs deliver hyperthermal water at 55°C, valued for its anti-inflammatory properties. This heat and mineral action underpin the range of treatments carried out in the modern care cabins of the establishment.

Medical indications

Treatment is organised around two therapeutic orientations. In rheumatology the cure addresses arthritis, inflammatory rheumatisms and joint conditions, together with the after-effects of trauma, neuralgias, paralysis and fibromyalgia. In gynaecology it is directed at ovarian hypofunction and chronic infections.

Buildings and setting

The present thermal baths were constructed in the 1880s to cope with a clientele that had outgrown the earlier springs of the Logis du Roy. Today the building is classified as a Monument Historique yet is fitted with modern treatment installations. It is directly connected to the Grand Hôtel Montespan-Talleyrand, so that residents can reach the treatment cabins straight from their rooms.

Season

For the 2026 season the spa is open from 19 March to 21 November.
