Terme Ilidža
The largest thermal complex in this part of Europe, built on Ilidža's warm springs with ~5,600 m² of indoor and outdoor pools.
About
Termalna Rivijera Sarajevo (Terme Ilidža) is a thermal water park built on the warm springs of Ilidža, on the edge of Sarajevo. Opened in 2005, it describes itself as the largest thermal complex in this part of Europe, spreading across 15 hectares with roughly 5,600 m² of water surface split between connected indoor domes and an outdoor summer zone.
Thermal water & source
The resort is developed directly on Ilidža's warm springs ("na toplim izvorištima Ilidže"). The pool water is kept to drinking-water quality with constant monitoring. Indoor pools are held at around 30–34°C, while the outdoor pools run at approximately 29°C.
Pools & attractions
- Indoor pools inside connected domes, with waterfalls, water caves and massage jets
- Outdoor pools with water slides, whirlpools and massage seating
- A wave pool described as the largest of its type in the region
- A transition pool letting swimmers pass between the indoor and outdoor sections
- Children's pools with reduced depth
- Qualified lifeguards on duty
Sauna, wellness & spa
The Wellness & Spa centre offers a full thermal-bathing circuit:
- Tepidariums (relax zone)
- Turkish hammam (steam bath)
- Roman room
- Finnish (dry) sauna
- Salt room for halotherapy
- Cold room for cooling recovery
A fitness centre is also part of the complex.
Family & kids
Alongside the reduced-depth children's pools, the resort runs animation programmes with trampolines and games for younger visitors.
Dining
The complex includes free-flow restaurants and a Caffe & Restaurant on site.
Hotels
The riviera is linked to large hotels in Ilidža, including Hotel Hills Sarajevo – Thermal & Spa Resort (330 rooms and apartments, congress centre, wellness and spa, fitness centre, indoor and outdoor pools, a 2,200 m² adrenaline park, and a panoramic rooftop restaurant and lounge bar) and Hotel Hollywood Sarajevo (466 rooms and apartments).
Setting
Ilidža sits just outside Sarajevo near the international airport, an area known since Roman times for its thermal springs, making the resort an easily reached day-trip and stay destination.
