Terme Banja Luka

Terme Banja Luka is the thermal-mineral spa complex of the Institute for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Surgery "Dr Miroslav Zotović", centred on the historic Slatina thermal waters near Banja Luka in the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The revitalised Terme Banja Luka facility was ceremonially opened on 3 September 2025 and entered full operation in October that year, restoring the historic "Šeher" thermal bath as a modern health, recreation and tourism destination built to contemporary energy-efficiency standards. The complex spans 7,350 m² across four floors, combining aquatic and recreational programmes, medical treatments, wellness zones and accommodation.

Thermal-mineral water and source

The Slatina thermal-mineral water has been prized since antiquity, with Roman-era coins and archaeological finds recovered from the spring; scientific analysis dates back to Professor Ludwig in 1888. At the source the water is hyperthermal, reaching 40–42°C, and can be used at that natural temperature or cooled to suit the condition being treated. It is well mineralised at 2.6776 g/l with a pH of 6.60, classified as calcium-magnesium-sulfate-bicarbonate-carbonic water, and notable for dissolved carbon dioxide (1.74 g/l) that penetrates the skin for therapeutic effect. In the recreational pools the water sits between 26 and 33°C. Alongside the water, the site's medicinal mud (peloid) is used for anti-inflammatory, circulatory and skin-rejuvenating treatments, applied for 20–30 minutes before thermal bathing.
