Chortoq sanatoriysi

The Chortoq (Chartak) sanatorium is a historic balneological and climatic health resort in the Chortoqsoy river valley, about 25 km from Namangan city in the southern foothills of the Chatkal mountains at roughly 650 m above sea level. Founded as a resort in 1950, its mineral water became famous across the former USSR.

Thermal & mineral water

• Deep thermal wells yield hot, thermal-to-hyperthermal water at temperatures above 42 C (reported up to about 60 C in the deepest well).
• The water is a sulphate-chloride, sodium type carrying iodine, chloride and calcium-sodium salts, plus traces of radon and bromine; a separate low-mineralised (chloride-sulphate-sodium, ~2.6-3.0 g/l) well yields a Truskavets-like drinking water.
• The mineral water acts as a hypotonic, vasodilatory agent, supporting blood pressure and circulation and reducing inflammation.

Baths, pools & balneology

• A bathing complex serving around 40 people, swimming pools, showers and dedicated water-treatment rooms for mineral-water bath therapy.
• Additional treatments include physiotherapy, laser therapy, therapeutic exercise (LFK) and massage.
• Indications: musculoskeletal, digestive, cardiovascular, nervous-system, gynaecological and dermatological conditions, with a dedicated cardiac-rehabilitation unit for patients after myocardial infarction.

Accommodation & setting

Guests stay in single, double and triple rooms across the resort's residential buildings, set in landscaped grounds with a library, sports facilities, a hair salon and recreation areas in a green mountain-foothill environment.
