Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs

Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs is one of the oldest natural health resorts in the United States, welcoming bathers since its bathhouse opened in 1868. Set in the high desert between Santa Fe and Taos, it is one of the only places on Earth where four distinct healing minerals surface in naturally sulphur-free water.

The waters feed nine communal soaking pools, with temperatures ranging roughly between 80 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit (about 27-41 degrees Celsius), so each pool offers a different experience of the same mineral-rich waters.

Pools and mud pool

Alongside the four mineral pools are the Upper and Lower Cliffside pools, the large (coolest) pool and the Terrace pool. A seasonal open-air Mud Pool lets soakers coat themselves in mineral clay and dry in the desert sun before rinsing off.

Spa, hotel and setting

The award-winning waterside spa offers high-desert therapies using organic New Mexico botanicals. Lodging ranges from the historic hotel and suites to casitas, cottages, vintage trailers and private homes, and the on-site Artesian Restaurant serves seasonal cuisine with produce from the resort's own Ojo Farm, all framed by the surrounding high-desert landscape.
