About
Termas de Monfortinho lies in the far east of the Idanha-a-Nova municipality, close to the Spanish border, and is one of Portugal's classic thermal destinations.
Thermal water & source
The spa is supplied by the Fonte Santa de Monfortinho spring. Its water is weakly mineralised (hyposaline), bicarbonate, sodium, calcium and magnesium in character, with one of the highest silica contents among Portuguese thermal waters and a pH of around 5.5. The water emerges at roughly 30°C. It is used therapeutically for dermatological conditions in particular, as well as metabolic-endocrine, rheumatic and musculoskeletal, circulatory, kidney-urinary and respiratory complaints.
