Druskininkų gydykla
Historic Druskininkai balneotherapy house with public mineral-water baths, therapeutic peat-mud baths, a mineral-water pool and hydrotherapy.
About
Druskininkų gydykla is the historic balneotherapy and mineral-bath house at the heart of Druskininkai, Lithuania's oldest spa resort founded on its mineral springs. It combines modern medical-spa technology with the resort's centuries-old healing traditions, offering ambulatory rehabilitation and public bathing treatments based on natural mineral water and therapeutic mud.
Mineral water and mud
- The mineral water belongs to the chloride-sodium-calcium group and is drawn directly from on-site boreholes in the Spa Park, in a range of mineralisation levels (low, medium and high) up to brines.
- Therapeutic peat mud (peloid) is extracted from a quarry near Mašnyčiai; rich in amino acids, phenols, vitamins and enzymes, it improves circulation, reduces inflammation and pain, has antibacterial effects and supports the immune and nervous systems.
Baths, treatments and pools
- Modern therapeutic mud baths and mineral-water baths.
- A mineral-water pool with underwater currents.
- Steam sauna (vapour bath), massage, physiotherapy, kinesiotherapy and cryotherapy cabinets.
- Relaxation rooms, winter gardens and mineral-water pump-rooms/fountains where visitors taste waters of different mineralisation.
Setting
Located in the historic Spa Park quarter of Druskininkai, the gydykla is operated within the town's Aqua health-resort group and functions as its dedicated balneotherapy and wellness centre.
