Stabilimento Termale La Contea in Battaglia Terme is a thermal establishment combining indoor and outdoor thermal pools with a wellness area and a medically oriented cure department that is accredited with Italy's National Health Service (SSN). Its saline-bromine-iodine thermal water is used for mud therapy, balneotherapy and inhalation treatments.
About
Stabilimento Termale "La Contea" (operated by Terme di Battaglia srl) is a thermal establishment in Battaglia Terme, in Italy's Veneto region, at Via Petrarca 11. It pairs a public complex of indoor and outdoor thermal pools and a spa with a medical cure department that is accredited with the Italian National Health Service.
Thermal water
The site describes its thermal water as "salso-bromo-iodica" (saline-bromine-iodine). In the cure department it is used at 36-38°C for immersion treatments, and up to 45°C in the grotto (vapour) environment, where humidity reaches 98-100%. The mud used for therapy is prepared from clay matured with the saline-bromine-iodine water and microorganisms; the source silt is a very fine "limo" at 60-70°C.
Thermal pools and spa
The complex offers both outdoor and indoor thermal pools. The outdoor area includes pools with a slide and trampolines, a mushroom fountain with waterfalls for cervical massage, a hydromassage basin, a Jacuzzi and a green sunbathing lawn. Indoors there are two pools with hydromassages and water features for relaxation, used for rehabilitation activities, free swimming, swimming lessons and aquatic fitness. The site also references a newly opened SPA and wellness centre.
Courses and activities
The establishment runs water gymnastics and swimming courses for all ages, including lessons for very young children (ages 0-3 and 3-13) and adults, plus gentle gymnastics and rotating aqua-fitness activities.
Thermal cures and indications
La Contea is accredited ("convenzionata") with the National Health Service (SSN) for thermal cures and physiotherapy, and with INAIL. Under this arrangement patients are entitled to one subsidised treatment cycle per year, with some categories eligible for two cycles with a physician's prescription. Treatments include mud therapy (fangoterapia), balneotherapy, hydromassage, grotto/vapour therapy, inhalation and insufflation treatments, vascular-pathway treatments, and massage. Mud is applied at roughly 40°C for 15-30 minutes, and the site attributes anti-inflammatory, analgesic and muscle-relaxant effects to it. Stated indications for mud therapy include osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and extra-articular rheumatism, while inhalation treatments address respiratory conditions and chronic ear conditions (tubaric insufficiency).
Visiting
The pools and spa area are open Monday 13:00-21:00, Tuesday to Thursday 10:00-21:00, Friday 10:00-20:00, and Saturday and Sunday 10:00-19:30. A full-day ticket costs €20.00, with a reduced ticket of €12.00 for children aged 5-10.
