Year-round river activity and sauna centre on the Ounasjoki in Rovaniemi, Finland, whose summer season includes an inflatable floating water park.

About

Roiske is an outdoor water-activity and sauna centre on the east bank of the Ounasjoki river at Ounasjoen itapuolentie 21 in the Saarenkyla district of Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland. It brands itself as an Arctic Sauna Retreat and Summer Adventure Centre and operates two distinct seasons: a summer programme of water activities on the river, and a winter programme built around sauna and ice swimming. The operator's history page states that the summer activity centre Roiske opened its doors in 2021, that ice-sauna operation was piloted in spring 2023, and that the first full winter season of sauna and ice swimming ran in 2023-2024.

The water park element is a floating inflatable course anchored in the river, sold as Kelluva vesipuisto in one-hour sessions. Admission includes a buoyancy aid, a safety briefing before entry and use of the sauna and shower facilities; a wetsuit can be rented separately for 6 euros. The operator states that buoyancy aids are compulsory and swimming ability required, that the water in the area is shallow at roughly 1.5 to 1.8 metres so jumping in is strictly forbidden, and that the course is circulated clockwise with one person at a time on each slide. The minimum age is six, six to nine year olds must be accompanied by an adult, and those over ten may take part alone with a guardian's consent. Exit mats are placed around the course to help swimmers climb back onto it.

Alongside the floating park the summer catalogue lists stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, a family paddleboard, rowing boats, canoe-boats, wakeboarding and water skiing, and a guided paddling trip to the Ounasjoki delta. The site's restaurant serves food, drinks and ice cream in summer on a riverside terrace; in winter drinks and small snacks are sold but the restaurant is closed. A sauna ticket is included in every summer-season purchase.

Facilities are described as three public saunas and one private sauna in the winter season, with at least one sauna heated every day in summer. Two jetties and steps give access to the shore and the river, washing and toilet facilities are separated by gender, and the heated changing rooms hold mirrors and hairdryers. A large kota hut with an open fire is available in winter. Winter products include ice-swimming tickets, sauna and ice-swimming multi-visit cards, and an Arctic ice floating experience with a minimum age of twelve and a minimum height of 140 cm. The operator states that in August and September the site is open only for private bookings, arranged by email or telephone.
