About
The spa belongs to Scandic Laajavuori, a hotel on the Laajavuori hill above Jyväskylä in central Finland. The house opened in 1969, built by the Rantasipi chain, and the spa and wellness wing was added in 2009. The operator mentions no spring, borehole or mineral water: the pools are heated and are described by temperature and depth alone.
The pool section covers 800 m² and holds six pools, each with its figures: the Panorama pool at 32 °C and 140 cm deep, a children's pool at 32 °C and 32 cm, a warm water lagoon at 37 °C and 80 to 130 cm, a cold pool at 7 °C and 130 cm, a lap pool at 29 °C and 150 cm, and a whirlpool at 34 °C. Men's saunas are the korpi, mökki and city saunas, women's the rose and crystal saunas, and a shared steam sauna divided by a milk-glass wall serves both sides; an infrared sauna stands alongside, and two private saunas can be rented. Water aerobics on the weekly programme and the gym are covered by the spa ticket.
Day visitors get in without staying over. It opens 08:00–21:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:00–22:00 on Friday and Saturday and 08:00–20:00 on Sunday, with the pool area closing half an hour earlier. Under-tens must be accompanied by an adult, and from seven children use the changing and sauna rooms of their own sex.
