About

Kylpyla Laajavuori is the spa and pool department of the Scandic Laajavuori hotel in Jyvaskyla, central Finland. The operator describes an 800 square metre pool hall ranging from a lane pool to a warm water lagoon and whirlpools. Free use of the spa is included in the room rate for hotel guests, and the department also sells day tickets to outside visitors, so it functions as a public spa as well as a hotel amenity. The operator lists no water slides, and the pool hall is built around warm relaxation pools, a lane pool and a large sauna selection rather than around rides.

Six pools are named individually with their temperatures and depths: a Panorama pool at 32 degrees and 140 cm deep, a children's pool at 32 degrees and 32 cm deep, a warm water lagoon at 37 degrees with depths of 80 and 130 cm, a cold pool at 7 degrees and 130 cm deep, a lane training pool at 29 degrees and 150 cm deep, and a whirlpool at 34 degrees. The pool section closes 30 minutes before the spa itself closes. Guided water aerobics classes are included in the day ticket, and water aerobics and massage bookings are taken by telephone.

The sauna range is split by gender. The operator lists a korpi, mokki, city and steam sauna on the men's side and rose, crystal and steam saunas on the women's side; the steam sauna is shared, with the men's and women's halves separated by a frosted glass wall. There is also an infrared sauna, and the hotel has two further saunas that can be rented for private use. Sauna yoga sessions run on Wednesdays and Fridays at 17:00 and 18:00, last 30 minutes, and cost 8 euros per person on top of a spa ticket. Children under ten may enter the pool section only with an adult, and from the age of seven children use the changing, washing and sauna facilities of their own gender.

Spa opening hours are 8:00-21:00 Monday to Thursday, 8:00-22:00 Friday and Saturday, and 8:00-20:00 on Sunday. Day-visitor admission is tiered by day and season, with adult tickets from 19.50 euros on weekday mornings up to 28.00 euros at weekends and in peak periods, and children aged three to twelve from 9.90 to 16.00 euros; family tickets for two adults and two or three children run from 58 to 82 euros. The department also sells ten-visit and monthly cards, and shares the building with a Day Spa treatment and massage operation and a six-lane bowling alley.
