Flamingo Spa

Flamingo Spa & Waterpark is an indoor spa and water park in Vantaa, in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The operator gives its address as the ground floor of the Jumbo shopping centre, Tasetie 8, and places it about five minutes' drive from Helsinki-Vantaa airport. It is divided into two areas: a water park for the whole family, and a Spa & sauna world with an age limit of 18, whose ticket also covers the water park. The operator states that the complex is open every day of the year apart from annual maintenance weeks, and that a stay in either area is limited to four hours. Finnish Wikipedia records that the spa opened in September 2008 and gives the water park's air temperature as 32 °C.

Pools

The operator lists seven pools in the water park with their temperatures and depths. The multi-purpose Sporttiallas is 32 °C and 1.3 m deep and holds a 2.5 by 25 m fitness lane, the Wibit balance course and a Hydrohex station for virtual water workouts. The Attraktioallas, also 32 °C, runs from 0 to 1.3 m and carries in its shallows what the operator calls Finland's first virtual water game, a shoal of interactive fish. There is a counter-current pool at 32 °C and 1.3 m deep, a diving pool at 32 °C that is 4 m deep with platforms at 3 m and 5 m, and two whirlpools, Geysir and jaguzzi, at 32–34 °C and 0.9–0.95 m deep. The Spa & sauna world adds three pools: a warm-water pool at 37 °C and 0.55 m deep; a pool the operator calls a mineral-water pool, 34 °C and 1.2 m deep, with underwater music and bubble beds; and the Avanto cold-water pool at 8 °C.

Slides

The operator lists four water slides. Rengasliukumäki is a tube slide ridden alone on a ring, which its Finnish pages give as 156 metres long and its English pages as 152 metres, with a minimum height of 116 cm. Vesiputous, 65 metres long, drops into the attraction pool and is limited to visitors over 135 cm. Viidakkojoki is a three-lane racing slide from 95 cm, and Perheliukumäki is a gentle slide several people can ride together, ending in a landing pool 30 cm deep. The operator states that on weekday mornings between 9:00 and 10:00 the jump platforms, the counter-current pool, Vesiputous and Rengasliukumäki are out of use while all the pools stay open.

Sauna and wellness

The Spa & sauna world has eight saunas, all unisex, in which the operator requires swimwear: UTU, a large steam sauna at 50 °C; USVA and SUMU, two more steam saunas at 50 °C scented with bergamot mint and lemongrass; SISU, a traditional Finnish sauna at 80 °C; PYRY, a panorama sauna at 70 °C in the Laituri space; TERVA, a tar-scented heritage sauna at 80 °C; SYLI, a salt sauna at 70 °C whose salt wall the operator states opens the airways; and LUMOUS, a 45 °C sauna for self-guided sauna yoga. A Finnish sauna also sits beside each of the water park's shower rooms. The operator states that it runs Aufguss sauna rituals every day, each about ten minutes long. The spa side also has heated relaxation loungers, a mill-wheel shower and a salt wall.

For children

The water park's children's pool is 34 °C and 0.3 m deep, set a little apart from the others, with two small slides and animal figures that spray water. The operator states that non-swimmers and children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult over 18 within arm's reach, and that children over 10 who can swim may swim there on their own. Swimming schools run for toddlers and school-age children. Funpark by Flamingo Spa, a jungle-themed indoor playground on the floor above, is a separate ticket, and the operator limits play there to two hours.

Opening hours

The operator gives the water park as open 9:00–21:00 every day, and the Spa & sauna world as 9:00–21:00 from Monday to Thursday and on Sunday and 9:00–22:00 on Friday and Saturday, with occasional extended Tropical Friday evenings. Funpark opens 11:00–20:00 from Monday to Saturday and 11:00–18:00 on Sunday. Tickets are sold in the operator's web shop or at reception.
