Cirque de Saimaa
Large indoor spa and water park at the Holiday Club Saimaan Rauha resort in Rauha, Lappeenranta, with two slides and a rooftop sun deck.
About
The venue is the indoor spa and water park of the Holiday Club resort at Rauha on Lake Saimaa, in the municipality of Lappeenranta and close to Imatra. The operator calls it one of the largest indoor spas in Finland and sells it both as a family day-visit destination and as an evening swimming venue; entry is open to visitors who are not staying at the hotel. The water park was originally branded Cirque de Saimaa, a name still used by regional tourism sites, while Holiday Club's own pages now present it simply as the spa of Saimaan Rauha.
The pool hall is arranged around a set of separate basins listed by the operator as a flowing pool, a multi-purpose pool with water games, a diving pool 2.5 metres deep, a whirlpool and a baby pool, together with a water show and an igloo sauna in which children can watch cartoons. There are two slides: a three-lane Racer Slide and Magic Tube, a 113-metre tube slide ridden on a ring. Both carry a minimum age of eight years. A kiosk in the pool department sells drinks without leaving the wet area, and virtual water-gymnastics sessions are offered in the pools.
A separate sauna world on the second floor is available for an extra charge on top of the spa ticket and contains four saunas — a steam sauna, a master sauna, a cottage sauna and a salt sauna — plus its own cooling pool and loungers. On the roof, the Sun Deck holds an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a log sauna, sun loungers and the resort's padel court; the outdoor pools and log sauna are included in the spa admission and, according to the operator, open in summer. Treatments are provided in the resort's Harmony Spa, which also runs booked sound-bowl relaxation sessions.
Adult admission is 27 euros and children aged 4 to 14 pay 21 euros, with owners of Holiday Club timeshare weeks receiving 15 per cent off; the sauna world costs a further 7 euros for adults and 5 euros for children on top of a spa ticket. The pool department and sauna world close 30 minutes before the spa itself, and the roof sauna and pools an hour before closing. Opening hours published for the period from 3 August are Monday to Thursday 12–20, Friday 12–21, Saturday 10–21 and Sunday 10–18.
