Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa

Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa lies at the foot of the Arenal Volcano in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, and is built around the only natural thermal river in the region. Mineral-rich waters, heated by the volcano and constantly renewed by its activity, flow untreated through the property.

Thermal river & pools

The volcano-heated river winds through the grounds forming tiered cascades, mineral pools, and bathing areas. Water temperatures vary across the pools from roughly 22°C to 38°C, letting visitors choose warmer or cooler spots. Features include a swim-up thermal bar and adults-only Shangri-La Gardens.

Gardens & waterfalls

Lush tropical gardens surround the thermal waters, with tiered waterfalls flowing into pools framed by rainforest vegetation and reforested grounds.

Spa, hotel & dining

The Tabacón Spa offers treatments in open-air rainforest bungalows. The resort provides several categories of rooms and suites plus on-site restaurants and bars. A limited-availability day pass allows non-guests to access the hot springs.
