Andean coffee-region thermal springs where alkaline mineral water tumbles down a tall waterfall into tiered pools, with spa, hotel and restaurant.

About

Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal is a natural thermal complex set in the coffee-growing Andes of Risaralda, Colombia, roughly 40 minutes from Pereira. Its signature feature is a set of open-air pools built at the foot of a tall waterfall, where geothermal water cascades down the mountainside.

Thermal-mineral water

  • Telluric, alkaline water that emerges from deep geothermal layers at more than 60 C (some sources cite up to 70 C at the source).
  • It cools naturally as it descends the waterfall and flows through tiered pools, reaching a comfortable bathing temperature of about 40 C.
  • The water is odorless and non-sulfurous, naturally rich in calcium carbonate, lime salts, bicarbonates and chlorides, valued for its vasodilatory and muscle-relaxing effect.

Pools beneath the waterfall

The main draw is the cluster of outdoor thermal pools directly beneath the cascade, surrounded by cloud-forest vegetation in the Andean coffee landscape.

Spa, hotel and dining

  • San Miguel thermal spa with massages and wellness treatments.
  • On-site hotel with rooms and its own thermal pools for overnight guests.
  • Restaurant serving regional cuisine, plus bird watching and thermal trekking experiences.
