Termas Geométricas

Termas Geométricas is a geothermal hot-spring complex set deep in a native forest ravine within Villarrica National Park, near Coñaripe in Chile's Los Ríos Region. The work of architect Germán del Sol, it strings a series of stone soaking pools along roughly 500 metres of a steep, shaded gorge.

The water

The springs are entirely geothermal: more than 60 natural sources emerge at around 80°C, and the water is used pure and untreated, neither filtered nor heated. It is simply left to cool until the pools reach a comfortable bathing temperature of about 45°C.

Pools, waterfalls and boardwalks

• Eighteen stone pools, each filled with pure, unfiltered thermal water, laid along the length of the ravine.
• Three cold-water waterfalls, the tallest cascading over three stepped pools.
• Raised red wooden walkways run through the air, connecting the pools and threading the gorge as a continuous red path.

Setting and facilities

The complex sits amid the native forests of Villarrica National Park, in a narrow gorge that gets little afternoon light. A quincho with terraces offers a place to rest, read and eat homemade food.
