Qalaaltı

Qalaaltı Hotel & Spa is a medical and recreational resort complex in the mountains near Shabran, about 120 km from Baku at roughly 700 m above sea level. It stands on the site of the Qalaaltı sanatorium (operating since 1978) and reopened as a modern five-star wellness resort in 2015, surrounded by forested slopes and open nature.

The mineral water

The resort is built around its own "Naftsu" (Naftsu / oil-containing) mineral water, a natural medicinal spring with a distinctive smell and taste. It has low mineralization (up to about 0.78 g/l) and an unusually rich content of dissolved organic substances (roughly 8.35-23.8 mg/l).

• Stimulates the discharge of small calculi (stones) from the kidneys and the urinary and biliary tracts
• Reduces the lithogenicity (stone-forming tendency) of urine and bile
• Normalizes metabolism and has an anti-inflammatory effect

Pools & balneology

The complex offers water- and spa-based treatment as well as recreation. Facilities include an indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool (with a mini-waterfall feature), a spa and wellness centre, massage rooms, sauna, steam bath and hamam, plus a fitness centre. A dedicated medical centre provides balneology and Naftsu-water therapies with consultations from a urologist, physiotherapist, cardiologist, neurologist, endocrinologist and general practitioner.

Accommodation comprises around 152 superior rooms, 15 suites and 3 villas, many with views over the surrounding mountains, alongside a restaurant, bar and snack bar.
